DESIGN SYSTEM

I partnered with Instrument to enhance an internal design system used for building Google’s new products. Our focus was on modernizing key components—grids, panels, dialogs, cards, and more—that had become outdated and less effective over time.

Through a comprehensive audit, we identified issues, explored improvements, and delivered clear, actionable recommendations that were successfully implemented into the system.

LET's START WITH THE AUDIT

While the existing documentation was thorough, it no longer met the evolving needs of the CorpEng team. Several components were outdated, limited in flexibility, or missing altogether.

Keep IT Accessible

We introduced greenline specifications for each component, giving developers precise guidance on interaction zones and accessibility—ensuring the system worked for everyone.

REVAMPED DOCUMENTATION

We collaborated with Google’s CorpEng team to rethink the system’s documentation from the ground up—making it clearer, more intuitive, and able to answer any question a team member might have.

Sticker sheet deliverables

As components were updated, we created fully responsive sticker sheets with pre-filled content. These sheets were directly connected to the design system’s type and color styles, enabling seamless implementation and easy future updates.
